Beginning on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00 p.m., Pastor John will be leading a discussion of the book 40-Day Journey with Dietrich Bonhoeffer. Bonhoeffer, a Lutheran pastor, is one of the great spiritual writers and Christian leaders of the 20th century. He was executed in a Nazi prison in 1945 only days before the end of the war for his role in a conspiracy to assassinate Adolf Hitler and bring WWII to an end. His involvement in the conspiracy was grounded in his conviction that discipleship to Jesus Christ required Christians to stand in solidarity with the oppressed by standing for and with the oppressed against the oppressor. His death was the final witness to his profound belief that obedience to Christ involves a personal, responsible action against evil on behalf of the victims of injustice.
The book is an invitation to explore your own spirituality. An invitation to spend 40 days with Bonhoeffer on a journey that will give you much to think about, much to pray about, and much to do on the road to radical discipleship.
